Prairieland Grain Company was built on the site of an old Manitoba Pool Grain Elevator that was demolished. As the rail siding was left unused, we saw an opportunity to provide a value added product to our region via building a grain processing plant. We began with developing markets for Marrowfat peas and quickly expanded to also exporting yellow peas and lentils as these commodities popularity grew as cash crops. We began exporting in the autumn of 1994 and proceeded to build our own cleaning facility in the summer of 1995.
